AIT Partnership Group Ltd, a leading provider of data centre and IT infrastructure services, today announced that it had implemented a data centre infrastructure management solution (DCIM) project for British Airways.
AIT implemented a solution that fully modelled BA’s data centres, capturing all assets and power and network connections providing real time monitoring, dashboards and reporting. BA has realised a Return on Investment by using the DCIM software to save time when provisioning servers and identifying cost savings by reducing stranded capacity, the capacity overhead held in reserve traditionally estimated using de-rated plate values.
A key element to the successful installation was the ability of AIT to quickly amend and import existing data and physically audit assets and infrastructure and streamline the processes required to add new servers and connections.
"The new DCIM software allows us to quickly allocate space for new servers, manage power and network connectivity, issue work orders and provide capacity planning across all British Airways data centres," Keith Bott, Service Manager, British Airways. "AIT provided the expertise and man power to audit and upload data, incorporate our modifications, and support the team during initial role out, to give us a leading edge DCIM solution that meets our exact needs."
