With this report, carbon offset company Prosumis is alarmed to learn without proper action taken to limit rising greenhouse gas emissions, by the end of the century, the average temperature around the globe could rise by 4 degrees Celsius that will cause acidification on ocean, rise on sea level, species migration, more intense tropical cyclone, and marine pollution.

According to a report by marine experts received by Prosumis, by year 2100, the cost of damage to the oceans around the globe from climate change could reach $2 trillion USD per year if measures to cut greenhouse gas emissions are not stepped up or limited. According to their studies, they have analyzed the most severe threats facing the marine environment of the world and estimated the cost of damage from global warming.

In over 500 locations, hypoxic dead zones are already found, which is caused by nitrogen-rich fertilizers and waste that strip more ocean areas of oxygen. The SEI (Stockholm Environment Institute) also said that if the world does not radically cut emissions, the cost of damage rises to $1.98 trillion USD or 0.37 percent of global gross domestic product by 2100.

Prosumis Carbon Solutions has a purpose to source and provide access to opportunities enabling clients to invest in carbon credits that suit their particular commitments and, furthermore, to provide the knowledge and advice for clients, in order that they realize full potential of any capital input.

The study also showed that almost $458 billion USD would be the cost of the loss of the ocean carbon sink, which is the ability of the sea to soak up carbon dioxide and the loss of tourism would incur the highest cost at $639 billion USD per year.
