HOCHTIEF has filled the vacant position of Chief Operation Officer (COO): At its meeting on March 28, 2012, the Supervisory Board of HOCHTIEF Aktiengesellschaft appointed Marcelino Fernández Verdes as the new member of HOCHTIEF Aktiengesellschaft’s Executive Board and COO of the company. He will enter into office as of April 15, 2012. "Mr. Fernández Verdes brings with him extensive experience in the international construction industry: Under his management, Dragados, the construction company within ACS, became a highly profitable company and international sales multiplied by a factor of four to almost EUR 2 billion in just four years. The majority of this was generated in the Americas," said Manfred Wennemer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HOCHTIEF Aktiengesellschaft. Mr. Fernández Verdes is already very familiar with the Group and its executive staff from his almost five years of membership on the HOCHTIEF Supervisory Board.

Marcelino Fernández Verdes (56) studied construction engineering at the University of Barcelona and has held a number of different positions in the construction industry since 1984. He was appointed General Manager of ACS Proyectos, Obras y Construcciones in 1997 and Chairman and CEO in 2000. Following the merger of Grupo ACS and Grupo Dragados in 2003, Mr. Fernández Verdes assumed the role of Chairman and CEO of Dragados S.A. Since October 2006, he has been Chairman and CEO of Construction, Environment and Concessions at ACS Actividades de Construcción y Servicios S.A. In this role, he was most recently responsible for sales of almost EUR 8 billion.

Mr. Fernández Verdes has been a member of the Executive Committee of the ACS Group since 2000 and on the Board of Directors of ACS Servicios y Concesiones S.L. (Chairman and CEO) since 2006. Mr. Fernandez Verdes will resign from all his prior positions, including his membership of the Supervisory Board of HOCHTIEF Aktiengesellschaft, until April 14, 2012. His anticipated successor on the HOCHTIEF Supervisory Board is Dr. rer. pol. h. c. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, member of the Executive Board of Volkswagen AG.
