Attenda Limited, the Business Critical IT company today announced that it has been awarded the contract to manage the official website qeprize.org launched to handle nominations for the £1 million Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.
Attenda is providing a managed solution for this high-profile website which has been set up to receive nominations from the public and from the international engineering community. The solution delivers high-availability, with on-demand scalability using Attenda?s Cloud computing platform, Attenda RTI, to ensure that the website can handle the high traffic peaks expected during the nomination period.
The Queen Elizabeth Prize (Twitter @QEPrize), which was launched in November 2011 by the Prime Minister David Cameron, is to be awarded for 'exceptional advances in engineering'. The fund behind the prize will be managed by an independent foundation, The Queen Elizabeth Prize Foundation chaired by Lord Browne of Madingley, formerly president of the Royal Academy of Engineering. The QEPrize will be delivered by a team based at the Royal Academy of Engineering. Commenting on the prize, Lord Browne says,"Engineering underpins every aspect of our lives and forms a bridge between scientific discovery and commercial application." Lord Browne continues,"The Queen Elizabeth Prize aims to celebrate, on an international scale, the very best engineering in the world."
