Nokia today announced that its Location & Commerce unit has entered into an agreement to provide map data for Peugeot’s first ever factory fitted navigation system for Morocco.
The NAVTEQ® Map of Morocco, which currently features over 75,000 kilometres of road network and over 41,000 Points of Interest, is continuously updated by a local team of geo-analysts. Significant resources have been invested in developing coverage of the Middle East and North Africa with a team based in Casablanca devoted to developing and maintaining the map. Rich in attributes which support efficient navigation, NAVTEQ Map data is developed with close attention to the important country specific nuances and details which are crucial to precise routing and guidance. The local office, for example, is staffed with fluent Arabic and French speakers to support the provision of a bi-lingual Moroccan map. These local geo-analysts are equally familiar with the mix of ancient and contemporary landmarks and locations so important to routing.
Peugeot’s WIP NAV device integrates perfectly into the vehicle with ergonomic controls and maps stored on a 4GB SD card, enabling drivers in Morocco to choose an in-dash navigation system if they wish. In addition to having local Moroccan coverage, pan-European NAVTEQ Maps are also included.

The Peugeot WIP NAV system with the NAVTEQ Map will be offered as an option on the Peugeot 207, 308, 3008 and 5008 models.
