The typical snug market for a Monday set the tone of moderate trading volume through out the session. Although tight trading made for a rather lack luster day, the major indices found solace in the green zone where they held through out the session. At the closing bell here is how the major indices ended for the day: the DOW (Dow Jones Industrial Average) tacked on a gain of 34.18 points to end at 12131.88; the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) was controlled by the Bears at the close to fall 4.00 points for an ending day reading of 8823.98; the NASDAQ posted a gain of 16.66 points to close at 2406.38; the S&P 500 (Standard & Poor’s 500 Index) moved higher by 3.52 points to close at 1384.42 and the RUSSELL 2000 gained 3.26 points on the day to close at 772.41. The FTSE All-World Index ex-US (top Large/Mid Cap aggregate from over 2,700 stocks from the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS) which covers 90% of the worlds investable market capitalization) moved lower by 0.22 to close at 229.57 and the FTSE RAFI 1000 moved higher by 15.95 points to close at 5760.29.

On the commodities markets, the trend was mixed across the board again today: Light crude fell by $1.01 to close at $58.58 a barrel; Brent Crude ended the day on Friday with a loss of $1.61 to close at $59.71 a barrel; Heating Oil closed lower by $0.04 to close at $1.66 a gallon; Natural Gas ended the day higher by $0.02 at $8.25 per million BTU and Unleaded Gas moved lower by $0.03 to close at $1.54 a gallon.
Metals ended the session lower across the board today: Gold fell by $4.30 to close at $625.80 an ounce; Silver moved lower by $0.23 to close at $12.89 an ounce; Platinum moved lower by $5.70 to close at $1,203.90 an ounce and Copper ended the day with a loss of $0.01 to close at $3.08 per pound.
On the Livestock and Meat markets, the trend was mixed across the board today: Lean Hogs moved lower by 1.75 to close at 65.00; Pork Bellies closed higher by 0.03 to end the day at 88.85; Live Cattle moved higher by 0.10 to end the day at 88.85 and Feeder Cattle ended the day lower by 0.28 to close at 95.43.
Other Commodities: Corn fell again today by 1.00 to close at 358.50 and Soybeans fell again today as well by 5.00 to close at 657.50.
Bonds were lower across the board today: 2 year Bond closed with a loss of 2/32 at 100 6/32; 5 year bond closed lower by 4/32 again today to close at 100 3/32; 10 year bond moved lower by 5/32 to end the day at 100 3/32 and the 30 year bond closed lower by 4/32 at 96 23/32.
The end of day results for the CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade) which is comprised of the total Exchange Volume for Futures and Options (EVFO) including Electronic, Open Auction and Cash Exchange ended the day at 2,550,603. Open Interest for Futures rose higher by 30,686 to close at 8,752,747 and the Open Interest for Options moved higher by 79,970 to close at 8,148,417 for a total Open Interest of 16,901,164 for a total gain on the day by 110,656. The mini Dow ended the session with a gain of 26 to close at 12157. The total Dow Exchange Volume for the day came in at 90,155 which are comprised of Electronic, Open Auction and Cash Exchange. New York Stock Exchange movers for the day: MasterCard Incorporated (MA) rallied higher today by 7.35 points for a gain of 8.24% to close at $96.55; WellCare Health Plans Incorporated (WCG) climbed higher by 3.90 points for a gain on the day of 6.96 to close at $59.90; China Life Insurance Company Limited (LFC) moved higher by 4.38 points with a gain of 4.94% to close at $92.98; Terex Corporation (TEX) gained 2.20 points for a gain on the session of 4.18% to close at $54.89; Intercontinental Exchange Incorporate (ICE) moved higher by 3.39 points for a gain of 3.98% to close at $88.50 on the day and Rio Tinto plc (RTP) fell sharply by 6.45 points for a loss of 2.94% to close at $213.00.
On the NASDAQ today, advancers came in at 1,791; decliners totaled 1,280; unchanged came in at 120; new highs came in at 248 and new lows came in at 47. Gainers and losers for the day on the NASDAQ:
e-Future Information Technology Incorporated (EFUT) rallied higher by 9.60 points for a gain on the day of 48.27% to close the session at a new 52 week high of $29.49; Isis Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (ISIS) tacked on 2.05 points for a gain of 19.75% to close at $12.43; China Automotive Systems Incorporated (CAAS) moved higher by 40.65% for a gain on the day of 3.15 points to close at $10.90; Chindex International Incorporated (CHDX) climbed higher by 3.29 points for a gain of 21.45% to close the session at $18.63 and Illumina Incorporated (ILMN) fell sharply by 5.14 points for a loss on the day of 11.67% to close at $38.91.
