Leeboy-India has confirmed the purchase of the SolidWorks add-on, Inspection Geni 3.1, for use within its design and QA departments.

Poised to introduce new products and solutions to the Indian market, Leeboy-India found itself having to evaluate CAD solutions for its product design department in preparation for production.

According to Girish G, Sr. Eng-Product Engineering at Leeboy-India, the company had reached a point where production delivery needed to overcome a bottleneck. “We urgently had to improve communication with other vendors and suppliers that would ultimately help them to help us to expedite our manufacturing and inspection process.”

Girish explains,“A typical project would see many discussions regarding the dimensions of hundreds of manufacturing drawings that were passed between Leeboy and other vendors. Obviously this began to create a lot of problems and delays in our assembly line and even when it came to deliver product to market.”

The decision to purchase Inspection Geni enabled Leeboy-India to effectively evaluate its operations and design, and inspection and manufacturing processes. “Its revision controls and ability to record the history of any changes made to a particular design have made a huge difference to the way they operate,” said Doron Sashkis, CEO, Albitech, the developer of Inspection Geni.

Bridging the communication gap

Following the implementation of Inspection Geni, Leeboy-India’s design team released over 500 manufacturing part drawings with Dimensional ID balloons and Microsoft Excel-based inspection reports. “We began to realize noticeable savings in time and documentation of reports,” said Girish. “As a tightly integrated add-on to SolidWorks, Inspection Geni helped us to expedite the process and release the speedy delivery of products - without the mistakes that had been found regularly on the assembly line.
“We also began to receive excellent feedback from our suppliers and vendors. I have no doubt that Inspection Geni has helped us to build good communication channels between all our departments and third party suppliers.

Additional benefits
By using Inspection Geni, Leeboy-India enabled its design team to record any and all changes made to parts during prototyping, even without having a PDM system. “We have used Inspection Geni to generate the reports for our prototype drawings,” he said. “It helped us to generate the inspection reports in no time all, using just a few clicks of a mouse and following some procedures.
Additionally, Leeboy-India reports that is has cut the time it takes to generate inspection report templates and ballooned drawings by over 80%. “We might have added few steps in our design activity but we have saved a lot of money and time,” he said.
“In every regard we have found Inspection Geni to be a very interactive and user-friendly inspection tool, that has helped us to realize significant savings to our bottom line,” he said.

Speaking from India, Sridhar M C said Inspection Geni 3.1.0 is SolidWorks software taken to a new dimension. “It offers customization of company specific property settings, and generates detailed history reports that benefits SolidWorks designers in India by allowing them to track the changes made to all dimensions and custom properties,” he concluded.
