Ambitious start-up Karolo.com aims to help home owners sell their unwanted furniture, promote small businesses and create a dedicated community of furniture enthusiasts.
From their base in Cardiff, Karolo Design have put their skills to the test and launched their very own dedicated furniture marketplace. By combining the benefits of social networking and online auctions, Karolo aim to help users sell not only their furniture but their business, skills and expertise.
“Our vision is to create a thriving community of furniture enthusiasts. A place where designers, craftsmen and shops can sell furniture, share their latest news, discuss ideas and connect with their customers.” said co-founder Mark Stevenson.
Aware of the increasing number of generic listing websites, Karolo have chosen to differentiate themselves by focusing only on furniture. By offering user profiles, blogging tools and the ability to sell products via auction or instant purchase, Karolo are looking to give businesses an alternative to purchasing their own e-commerce website.
Coupled with their desire to help small businesses across the UK’s furniture industry, Karolo are also keen to promote the idea of furniture reuse. “Over 10 million items of furniture are sent to landfill every year; a shocking statistic and one that helped form the idea for Karolo. By offering 0% commission rates and free listing options, we hope to give people a real incentive to think twice before throwing furniture away.”
The community area forms an integral part of Karolo's effort to promote innovative reuse projects, new furniture designs and latest news from the furniture industry. By enabling people to post their own blogs, comment and 'love this', Karolo aim to provide a hub of inspirational design and information.
Karolo (karolo.com) are now eager to expand their catalogue by linking with furniture of small businesses and charities across the UK.
