The award recognizes and acknowledges the innovative use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in financial/banking inclusion. Since 2009, AISECT is extending hassle-free savings, loan facilities and other banking services at an affordable cost to the under privileged and unbanked population through business correspondent and business facilitator model. The award was handed over by Honorable Ms. Smriti Irani (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha) and Mr. Ravi Saxena (Additional Chief Secretary. Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat).
In collaboration with the Government of India, AISECT has set up 2926 Common Service Centers (CSCs) in Madhya Pradesh, 1487 in Chhattisgarh and 585 in Punjab. It currently works as a Business Correspondent (BC) as well as a Business Facilitator (BF) for SBI in the CSC districts. Services offered by the company as an SBI BF include New Account Opening, Loan for House Repairing, Loan for Self Employment, Loan for Dairy Units, Loan for 2/4 Wheeler, Deposit in NHC and Kisan Credit Card. Services delivered by AISECT Centers acting as BCs include account opening in CSC Kiosk, Deposit/Withdrawal in Account and Micro Finance. Apart from this, 431 Rural/Urban Banking Kiosks have been installed and two Mobile Vans, fitted with ATM and Kiosk banking mechanisms, are in operation in rural areas. Also, massive awareness generation programs are being undertaken by the organization to ensure that the community at large develops an understanding of the various financial products and their advantages.

The eGov Award for the Best ICT in Financial Inclusion initiative is the latest in the long line of achievements and recognitions that AISECT has won over the years.
Through AISECT’s sustained work in the last 26 years, it has not only created a sustainable national network of ICT enabled centres all over the country but has also bagged several prestigious awards like NASSCOM IT Innovation Award, The Indian Innovation Award, The National e-Governance Award, NASSCOM Emerge 50 leader, TiE-Lumis Partners Entrepreneurial Excellence Award and the National CSI 2011 Award for Excellence in IT.
