Fortitech’s research shows that many demographics, especially aging generations, are looking for new and innovative ways to get their nutrition; confections prove to be excellent applications for fortification.
At the exhibition, Fortitech Europe sampled several fortification solutions including three, condition-specific fortified ice cream concepts each providing high levels of vitamins and minerals, plus added plant extracts and nutraceuticals. The first sample was a cactus-flavored, energy/immunity boosting ice cream complete with guarana, green tea extract, vitamin B1, B2, B6, B12, biotin, folic acid, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin C and zinc. The second sample was an antioxidant red-berry flavored ice cream with rooibos red tea extract, lycopene, acerola, vitamin E and selenium. The third was a mint-flavored, synergistic bone-health ice cream packed with soy isoflavones, calcium, vitamin D3, vitamin K1, magnesium and manganese. Visitors topped-off the ice cream with a fortified chocolate topping which shows the technological value of using a stabilized minerals premix. This innovative treat contains chromium, copper, iron and zinc.
Also available for sampling were three types of chocolate clusters each addressing specific and important health-related issues. Brain-healthy chocolate clusters are packed with 16 different nutrients including a complete antioxidant profile, calcium and iron for improved cognitive function. The heart-healthy chocolate clusters are a solid option to boost cardio health. This treat supports good heart health and wellness by providing lycopene, coenzyme Q10, vitamins B12 and B6, vitamin C, and folic acid. Fortitech Europe’s bone-healthy chocolate cluster premix is formulated to strengthen bones and potentially help slow the progress of osteoporosis in adults. This chocolate sample is packed with calcium, vitamin D and magnesium – all crucial nutrients to ensuring bone-health.
Fortitech Europe is also anticipating increased consumer demand for confectionery products such as fortified gumballs. Our gumball formulation features a custom premix with 100 percent US RDA of niacin, folic acid, pantothenic acid and 8 essential vitamins, including A, C, D, E, B1, B2, B6 and B12. This great tasting gumball is available in grape, watermelon, cherry and bubble gum flavors.
