Quiterian, the leading European developer of advanced and predictive analytics software for business and non-technical users, today announced that Station Casinos has adopted Quiterian Analytics, a Visual Data Mining platform capable of analyzing large volumes of raw data at record-breaking speeds. Selection followed a lengthy evaluation of Business Analytics tools.
Quiterian develops, markets and supports Quiterian Analytics, a self-service and agile Business Intelligence (BI) platform offering Visual Data Mining, advanced and predictive analytic tools for non-technical users. Station Casinos owns and operates 18 hotel and casino properties in the Las Vegas area.
Jeff Martin, Business Intelligence Director at Station Casinos in Las Vegas manages a complex infrastructure running hotel and gaming applications at Stations, including IBM iSeries, IBM i, Unix and Point of Sale servers. He reports,“Our IT Department wanted to provide additional analytics and data mining tools to support greater analysis by members of the Marketing Department. We wanted to open up business analytics and data visualization to non-IT people and other non-technical professionals in Marketing.”
The IT network environment at Stations is complex with 5 to 10 servers dedicated to each of 10 hotels and serving a total of 18 distinct properties. Their elaborate Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse environment uses software products from Cognos, Teradata and using Informatica to bring all data from all systems to the Teradata box.
Martin,“In selecting an analytics tool for Marketing, we reviewed business analytics offerings we liked. Final selection was between IBM’s SPSS and Teradata’s Warehouse Miner and Quiterian Analytics. We felt that Quiterian and their business partner Endowance did the best job of meeting the business contract requirements we were looking for.”
Quiterian Analytics (Quiterian.com) was installed in December, 2011, using a 3-person team of Quiterian and Endowance training and implementation specialists who took only 5 days to create and install frameworks and train Marketing and IT personnel.
Initial use of Quiterian Analytics for analysts in Marketing includes using it for advanced market segregation and profiling customers. Stations IT personnel are working with Endowance to build ongoing refresh strategies for data to be analyzed by Quiterian Analytics. Martin,“I have an iSeries RPG programmer that is very experienced and can be quite critical of software products. He was very impressed with the speed of the Quiterian product once our data had been loaded.”
