The world’s most popular office productivity software is poised to become even more popular in the coming months, particularly among academic users, according to certain industry experts.

In advance of release of the latest version of Microsoft Office, a number of insiders claim that the new software will feature a substantially fresher look and a much more touch-friendly interface. Informed analysts also anticipate that the new MS Office interface will be leaner, and hence, easier to navigate on tablets, potentially with a quick thumbnail navigation to jump to recent pages. In addition, video will play an even bigger role from both an editing and presentation standpoint.

Einstein Academic also anticipates that social network integration on the new Microsoft Office will raise the bar for the entire industry. According to Einstein Academic, for MS student and teacher users it may become even easier to meld an invitation sent in Outlook with a presentation delivered in PowerPoint, to a to-do list in OneNote and the Lync application for online meetings. It is also believed that Microsoft Outlook will display the most noticeable changes, including a new visualization approach for scheduled tasks. Most also agree that PowerPoint will feature an expanded number of template options and transition effects.

As for the product name, it’s anyone’s guess. Some claim it will be “Office 2012,” others say,“Office 15” and a few claim,“Wave 15.” Regardless of the name, the new Microsoft Office is coming soon and will definitely be a game changer in the office productivity space.
