LifeSensors, Inc., a rapidly growing biotech company focused on developing innovative tools to facilitate protein expression and the study of the Ubiquitin Proteasome Pathway (UPP), announced today that they have appointed Dr. Mark Engleka to the position of Sales and Marketing Director.
Mark Engleka comes to LifeSensors with many years experience in the life science reagent marketplace. Previously, Dr. Engleka was on the executive management team of Enzo Life Sciences and was involved in the development and execution of marketing and operational strategies to increase growth of their reagent portfolio. Prior to that, Dr. Engleka led the product management and marketing efforts for BIOMOL International, a producer and supplier of over 3000 reagents for biomedical research. Dr. Engleka’s knowledge of the marketplace and experience in managing and marketing products for research will prove invaluable to LifeSensors as they continue to grow their product lines in 2012 and well into the future.
Ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins are small regulatory proteins with roles in a variety of cellular processes, and increasingly, components of the ubiquitin pathway are being associated with human disease. Basic ubiquitin research and ubiquitin drug discovery is expected to flourish as targets are validated and drug candidates progress through clinical trials. Dr. Engleka achieved his B.S. in Molecular Cell Biology at the Pennsylvania State University in 1992, and later recieved his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 2001. He has worked as a Research Assistant at the Wistar Institute and as a Senior Product Manager/Site Manager at Enzo Life Sciences International (formerly Biomol International).
