The 24th annual Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition will take place this January 19th-21st in downtown Toronto, Canada. Headed by co-chairs Daniel Farewell and Katherine Wong Too Yen, the QEC team anxiously awaits the competition and its introduction to Toronto. The QEC is Canada's largest international undergraduate business plan competition and attracts the brightest young entrepreneurs from around the world. Toronto stood out as an innovative and accessible location for the competition’s international competitors, judges and speakers. The QEC exists to foster innovation and provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the opportunities they need to launch a successful and sustainable business. The deadline for competitors to enter business plan submissions was in early November. The submissions entered a preliminary round of judging, and the top 16 teams were invited to compete in Toronto. These top 16 teams will have the opportunity to present their winning business plans to leaders in Canadian business. The QEC is the only competition hosted by the Queen’s School of Business that allows students and competitors to compete for $25,000 CDN in cash prizes.

The QEC 2012 will be hosting representatives from firms including TD Bank Financial Group Wealth Management, ONCAP, IBM Canada, Manulife Bank, Level5, LoyaltyOne, Ricoh Canada and Freshii, giving student entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet and network with top executives. The founder of the QEC, Meredith van Binsbergen, will be attending this year's competition with her husband Steven van Binsbergen. Keynote speakers include Chris Hodgson, Head of Industry Retail for Google Canada; John Poulos, President and CEO of Dominion Voting Systems, and Ted Zittell President at Ted Zittell & Associates.
