All of Moxa’s existing EDS-400 and EDS-500 switches have EtherNet/IP compatibility when running version 3.0 firmware, which has already been released.
“Moxa’s products help bridge the gap between IP-based network devices and industrial SCADA systems to create a single seamless converged system. The ODVA’s EtherNet/IP specification is the most commonly used industrial communications standard in North America and one of the most important in the world. ODVA certification confirms that our switches can operate seamlessly in these EtherNet/IP industrial systems. The IP communications network used by an industrial system no longer needs to be invisible to the SCADA system,” explained HoChin Yang, Product Manager at Moxa.
Moxa’s managed switches with EtherNet/IP support are able to communicate device status information directly to PLCs. EtherNet/IP enables connectivity to industrial devices and control systems such as Allen Bradley PLCs and Rockwell’s RSLogix5000 control systems. Existing users of Moxa’s managed switches can gain EtherNet/IP support simply by updating their firmware.
Firmware for the EDS-600, EDS-728, IKS, PT, and TN series switches with certified EtherNet/IP support will be released to end-users in the coming months.
