Showcasing the superior performance and price/performance of Oracle Database 11g Release 2 and Oracle Linux, Oracle announced a new record TPC-C benchmark result for a two-processor Intel-based system(1).
Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition One and Oracle Linux with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 2, running on a Cisco UCS™ C250 M2 Extended-Memory Rack-Mount Server with two Intel® Xeon® X5690 3.46 GHz processors achieved 1,053, 100 transactions per minute (tpmC) with a price/performance of $0.58/tpmC.
This result delivered more performance and costs nearly 11 percent less per tpmC than the nearest competition on a configuration utilizing identical Intel processors and memory capacity(2).
Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition One is an affordable, full-featured database for servers with up to two processors. It’s simple to manage, can easily scale as demand increases, and is upwardly compatible with other Oracle Database editions.
In addition to this new record result, Oracle is the overall performance(3) and price performance(4) leader with the TPC-C benchmark.
"This record benchmark shows that Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition One provides customers with exceptional price/performance," said Juan Loaiza, senior vice president, Systems Technology, Oracle.
“The Cisco patented UCS Extended-Memory Server uses its unique memory extension capability to increase application performance for demanding virtualization and large dataset workloads. Together with Oracle Database Standard Edition One, our mutual customers can achieve outstanding results, both from a performance and price perspective, as this benchmark demonstrates,” said Satinder Sethi, vice president, Data Center Solutions, Server, Access, and Virtualization Technology Group for Cisco.
