The German company inge GmbH – widely regarded as the global leader in the field of ultrafiltration technology – hundred percent owned by BASF and part of its Water Solutions business – has launched an innovative software tool to accompany the ultrafiltration modules and membranes developed and produced in-house. Known as ‘inge System Design’ and developed by inge’s own researchers, the software program speeds up the process of designing professional ultrafiltration systems.

The planning and design of ultrafiltration systems has just become a whole lot easier thanks to the new ‘inge System Design’ software program developed by the ultrafiltration specialists at inge GmbH. By entering key data such as water type, water quality and treatment capacity, users can run through a few simple steps to obtain a basic outline of the required configuration to meet their needs. To make the specifications more detailed, users then have the option of modifying further parameters – for example the number of racks, filtration flux, filtration and backwash times. The software enables users to experiment with multiple variants in a range of operating scenarios to find the optimum design.

The new software developed by inge offers customers some outstanding features that are not available in any conventional products – for example enabling users to calculate the quantities of chemicals and energy required by the system and adapt the metering pump design to the water quality and the desired target pH value. This provides the flexibility to tailor the system to the customer's individual needs. Programmed in Visual Basic,“inge System Design” is extremely user-friendly, making it the perfect tool for project design and plant construction.

Patrick Buchta, the Head of Applications Engineering at inge GmbH, who was responsible for developing the program, explains the concept behind this new tool: “As a technology leader, we are continuously striving to improve our service offerings. That applies not only to our products, but also, just as importantly, to our technical support. We have developed this system design tool to maximize the professional end-to-end support we provide to our customers – from the planning stage all the way through to the construction and operation of the complete ultrafiltration system.”

About inge GmbH
inge GmbH (inge.ag), based in Greifenberg, Germany employs more than 80 staff and is a world's leading provider of ultrafiltration technology, a membrane process used to treat drinking water, process water, wastewater and sea water. With a global reach enhanced by its network of partners, the company has completed numerous reference products around the globe featuring its cutting-edge technology. Since August 2011, inge has been part of BASF, the world’s leading chemical company. Its range of products include highly-efficient ultrafiltration modules and cost-effective, space-saving rack designs as the core components of water treatment plants, rounded off by the superb technical support it provides to its customers. All the company's products are based on the in-house development of its patented Multibore® membrane technology, providing the top-quality standards for which German-made goods are famous. The extremely small-pore filters of the Multibore® membrane reliably intercept not only particles, but also microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, thereby providing a dependable source of clean water. Deployment of the inge technology also offers significant advantages over conventional water treatment methods, such as rapid and easy module installation and stable, highly resilient membranes. This makes planning a water treatment facility much simpler, enabling customers to achieve low-cost installation and operation. And all this comes with a guarantee of long-lasting reliability.
