ATEN International, a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, today announced the availability of the CL3000 PS/2-USB LCD Console, a lightweight, eco-friendly hardware unit that serves as the front-end console for compatible KVM switches.
Equipped with a 19-inch power-saving LED-backlit LCD monitor, the CL3000 offers a space-saving, streamlined approach by integrating a keyboard, video monitor and touchpad all in one unit. Expending only 72.9 BTUs an hour and 21.4 watts, the CL3000 is far more energy-efficient than its competitors, saving up to 55 percent in power consumption. Additional console ports allows the second user local access, when utilized with an ATEN on the NET™ switch or KVM extender, the CL3000 provides a practical solution for remotely controlling computers in different locations while reducing IT overhead.
"The CL3000 is a green solution that speaks to the budget-conscious IT manager,"said Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. "From a green IT perspective, products such as the CL3000 provide cost savings by eliminating the need for additional hardware including keyboards, monitors and mice. Furthermore, the CL3000 delivers energy efficiency through its LED-backlit LCD monitor. We are committed to providing our customers with products that help reduce their carbon footprint and realize energy savings."
The CL3000 is particularly useful in scenarios where weight is the major concern. Military vehicles, for instance, are subject to weight limitations; loading the trailer in excess of these limitations is not only illegal and can subject the driver to fines and penalties, but is also unsafe. The CL3000's unique lightweight design is ideal to help lower a vehicle’s total weight. For similar reasons, the CL3000 is also ideal for use by aeronautical instrument companies for aircraft equipment testing in weight-crucial environments.
The following are the CL3000's key features and specifications:
• Integrated LCD console featuring a 19" monitor in a Slideaway™ housing;
• Green power – LED-backlit LCD monitor saves energy;
• Lightweight design for easier installation;
• Dual Interface – supports computers with PS/2 or USB keyboards and mice;
• Extra console port – manage computers from an external console (monitor, USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse);
• Lightweight design: 8.41kg/18.54 lbs;
• Low power consumption: 120V, 21.4W / 230V, 22.7W.

About KVM Switches-An Essential Server Management Device
A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
ATEN International Co., Ltd (aten.com) specializes in information technology connectivity solutions. Established in 1979, today ATEN is considered the leading manufacturer of KVM Switches worldwide. This prominent position was reached through a constant high investment in research and development, resulting in numerous patents – exemplified by the production of a sophisticated ASIC that was developed in the ATEN labs and manufactured in ATEN factories. ATEN's current product range covers hundreds of connectivity products, providing complete KVM, Data Center Management and Professional A/V solutions – from entry level operations to the enterprise market. ATEN's customer base includes large enterprises with global operations, midrange and small businesses, as well as ambitious private users.
