The demands for exhaust gas measurement systems are becoming more and more complicated. This complexity is largely due to the use of SCR – catalysts for diesel vehicles as well as the rising use of alternative fuels.
Therefore, the exhaust gas measuring system specialist, AVL Emission Test Systems GmbH, designed the solution, SESAME AVL i60 FT.
It provides an intelligent, multi-component-exhaust gas measurement for F&E as well as the certification of internal combustion engines.
A clear understanding of the chemically detailed processes in the engine exhaust and the exhaust follow up systems is vital for the optimum development of new controls, calibrations, engines and components.
The SESAME i60 FT offers the precise and speedy measurement of all important exhaust gas system components.
It allows the integration of optional FID (THC) and PMD (O2) analyzers as well as IRD (CO2) analyzers for EGR measurements.
It also makes it possible to take two parallel measurements of the FTIR (i.e. at the same time before and after catalysts.)
The controlling software is based on the proven AVL iGEM software platform, earning critical acclaim in the engine design industry.
This system is a new component in the extremely successful family of AVL iGeneration products. Therefore, clients can expect a uniform and identical graphic user interface with the same “look & feel.”

The SESAME AVL i60 FT is the successor of the SESAM-FTIR 4, which has already set the standard for FTIR-measurement of exhaust gases in internal combustion engines. It brings present FTIR use to a new level—giving new possibilities in research and development as well as certification.

After an intensive development stage involving numerous preproduction device validations, the pilot run of the SESAME i60 FT was installed at various international enterprises.
With its optimised diagnosis tools and custom calibration in every FTIR, this measuring system guarantees the highest quality results. It integrates decades of experience with the high level of KnowHow provided by AVL experts working in the field of automotive exhaust gas measuring technology FTIR.
It fulfils legal requirements, such as VI euros and EPA 40 part CFR in 1065, for measurements which permit a FTIR.
The SESAME i60 FT can be used in the test bench in the same way as customary exhaust gas measuring arrangements.
